Thursday at Hershey

Raymond had three appointments at Hershey Medical Center on Thursday. Chris took the day off to come along with us. We went to see Dr. Williams at the feeding clinic and the new GI doctor first. We didn't do much with Dr. Williams at this appointment because Raymond hasn't been eating anything by mouth. With Raymond's oxygen level being unstable and his lungs not sounding great, all involved decided it would be better not to push him. Dr. Williams was however encouraged that when Raymond was eating by mouth he seemed to really enjoy it (even though he wasn't ingesting much). At this point, Dr. Williams is going to let the decision of when Raymond starts to eat by mouth again up to the pulmonologist and me. Hopefully that will be sooner then later but we'll eventually get back on track! The GI doctor and Dr. W. changed Raymond's formula again and put him on a new medicine to help keep the formula down. Raymond's not supposed to be able to throw anything up with the Nissen procedure he had done but he still is periodically. This can effect his breathing and give him an infection in his throat and GI track. We will give it a test run to see if it helps. After meeting with those two doctors, Raymond had to see the pulmonologist. She said his lungs sounded much better then last week. We need to finish the steroids and keep giving him the breathing treatments. It looks like Raymond will stay on oxygen through the winter. His levels are still up and down. Taking him off oxygen all together, then putting him back on, then off...you get the point...will effect his growth. We don't want that to happen either. Winter will always be a struggle for Raymond with lots of colds and germs floating around so we'll continue to do whatever is best for him.
I had a very long doctors appointment on Wednesday for the baby. Everything looks great and I am measuring right on track. We also scheduled the delivery date (my third C-section). No, I will not tell you when that is. : ) Isabella has been constantly been talking about the baby lately. She really cracks me up. We were at Walmart the other day and saw a sample Christmas card with a tiny baby on who's umbilical cord hadn't fallen off yet. She was asking me about it and said she hopes that doesn't happen to our baby. So then we talked about how that happens to every baby and why its there, for how long, etc. After a lot of questions, I think she's okay with "that" happening to her sister. Isabella sure is on inquisitive little girl!
Until Next Time!
Lots of Love,
Erica

I'll light another candle for Raymond. I'm glad his lungs sound better. Two long doctor visits in one week!! Yes, Isabella certainly is curious about everything. That is terrific!
