Fall Is Here

The weather is getting cooler and we've been enjoying it. Isabella's school is in full swing and she's having fun making new friends in her class. She talks a lot about a new little girl named Violet. Maybe we'll have to invite her over to play sometime.

Raymond likes to take the cushions off of the sofa and then Isabella uses them as seats. She's drinking our favorite peach smoothie in this picture.

1 bag frozen peaches

2 cups orange juice

1 can peach nectar

1 small container peach Greek yogurt

2 tsp. sugar

Blend and Enjoy!


Lily is getting around the house so fast! I put her down and she follows me where ever I go. This morning I was in the bathroom with the door closed washing my hands and she was outside the door calling, "Mama! Mama!" She is SO sweet. She really enjoys playing with the activity cube.

The side with the gears seems to be her favorite.

Lily always peaks at me through her crib while I'm folding laundry.

It's getting harder and harder to take pictures of Raymond! He never stays still!!! Above is a good example of that! I was able to snap a picture of him sitting still the other day. I was feeding Lily and he always watches that process. Part of me feels bad because he can't eat and another part of me thinks it's good that he watches so when we can finally try to feed him by mouth again, he'll have seen Lily do it.

Lily has been less then enthusiastic about eating solid food. I've been giving her different options, and she eats three or four small spoonfuls, but she still prefers the easy way out (nursing). Yesterday I gave her Carrots, Apples & Parsnips (by Ella's Kitchen Organic Baby Food) and she loved it! Yay!

Tim's Place

What is Tim's Place?

Opened in May 2010, Tim's Place is a resturant in Albuquerque, New Mexico opened by Tim Harris, a 25 year old young man with Down Syndrome. Tim worked throughout high school as a host at Red Robin. Here is a short bio about Tim that I pulled from the Tim's Place website.

"The famous quote from Walt Disney, "If youcan dream it, you can do it" has been the driving force behind the life of Tim Harris. Born in 1986 with Down Syndrome, Tim's life has been defined by exceding expectations.

As a 2004 graduate of Eldorado High School in Alburquque, New Mexico, Tim was elected homecoming king by th highest margin of votes in school history. During gradulation week, Tim was also voted Student of the Year by th administration, faculty, and staff.
In the fall of 2004, Tim moved to Roswell, New Mexico to attend Eastern New Mexico University. Tim earned certificated in Food Service and in Office Skills and worked at a varity of local resturants including CiCi's Pizza, Golden Corral, IHOP, and Peppers Bar and Grill. Tim lived in a college dorm and gradulated in the summer of 2008.

After college, Tim worked as a host at Applebee's resturant in Albuqureque and has participated in Special Olympics competitions throughout Mexico. Tim enjoy's basketball, volleyball, poly hockey, track and field, and golf. He has won dozens of gold medals as a Special Olympian.

Tim spent much of 2009 and 2010 living aboard a sailboat with his parents and traveling throughout the Bahama's. Tim is now widwly known throughout the Bahama's and is an excellent sailor and offshore fisherman."

GiGi's Playhouse

GiGi's Playhouse is a wonderful collection of center's developed to focus on Down Syndrome. All of their programs are free and therapeutic in nature. Poison

The band Poison is holding a benefit concert for the Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida. Poison added this unscheduled concert to the end of their reunion tour.

All of the proceeds of the concert will go to support the Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida. The Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida (The Foundation) is a non-profit organization started by a group of visionary parents who wanted to have a direct impact on children, families and the community as they journeyed through life with a loved one with Down Syndrome.

It's always great to see big names come together for Down Syndrome. I love it!

Sarah!

Some of you might remember Sarah. We know her and her family through the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center. She also suffered from Leukemia. I'm extremely happy to tell you she has won that battle!!! Sarah is featured on the advertisements for the CureSearch Walk, taking place on October 8th. CureSearch is the fundraising arm of the Children's Oncology Group (COG) -- the world's largest cooperative pediatric cancer research organization. Not only did the COG develop the treatment plan that saved Sarah's life, but they also treat more than 90% of the kids with cancer in the United States (including Raymond). We are so proud of Sarah and her representation of the COG. What a bright star : ) Until Next Time!
